I am a resident of Wasaga Beach and I work/travel outside of Town, how am I getting back in? |

I have family/friends visiting this weekend, how will they get to my home? |
We encourage residents to remind their visitors that if they are travelling in a modified vehicle, they should leave that vehicle at home to minimize any disruption to weekend plans. If your family/friends are travelling in a modified vehicle and are not residents or property owners in Wasaga Beach, they may be denied entry. |
Why are there vehicle checkpoints? |
The purpose of the checkpoints is to prevent the gathering of vehicles that have come to Wasaga to participate in the unsanctioned and illegal car rally, and to ensure the safety of all residents and businesses. |
Under what authority am I being stopped? |
The Authority of the Town to respond to the illegal car rally comes from the combination of the following legal authorities;
|
Are the checkpoints staffed 24hrs? |
Yes, security personnel will be on site and supported by local police services. |
Why has the Town not worked with the car rally group to create a sanctioned event? |
The Town recognizes the importance of tourism and the opportunity to collaborate with legitimate car enthusiast groups to create safe and popular events.
After the events of 2021 and 2022, which resulted in large-scale damage to public and private property, including the destruction of OPP cruisers and attacks on first responders, the Town reached out to H2Oi organizers to attempt to create a safe and sanctioned event in Wasaga Beach. The group was not responsive to organizing a sanctioned event.
