April 14-20 is Proclaimed National Volunteer Week
WHEREAS, a significant portion of the Canadian population, totalling 24 million individuals, dedicate their time to various forms of volunteering, contributing an impressive number of nearly 5 billion volunteer hours annually; and
WHEREAS, within the community of Wasaga Beach, volunteers serve as mentors to our youth, provide support to those experiencing isolation, enhance the beauty of our natural spaces, and engage in fundraising efforts for charitable causes; and
WHEREAS, the volunteers in Wasaga Beach represent a diverse array of individuals, including families, workers, retirees, and community members of all ages and backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, it is essential to acknowledge the varied roles and the collective efforts of our town’s volunteers significantly contribute to making Wasaga Beach a more vibrant and desirable place to reside; and
THEREFORE, I, Mayor Brian Smith, on behalf of the Council of Wasaga Beach, do hereby proclaim April 14 - 20, 2024, as National Volunteer Week and call upon my fellow citizens to acknowledge and appreciate the indispensable contributions made by volunteers to the betterment of our community.
