June 24 - June 30 is proclaimed St. John Ambulance Week
WHEREAS the Simcoe-Muskoka Branch of St. John Ambulance has been serving the community since 1941 and fulfilling our mission to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety, and quality of life by providing training and community service; and
WHEREAS St. John Ambulance is an integral part of the community, offering unique and innovative programs, including medical first response, disaster response, car seat installation clinics, health and safety related youth programs and therapy dog services; and
WHEREAS today, in more than 300 communities across Canada, more than 10,000 St. John Ambulance volunteers provide over one million hours of community service per year. The financial contribution of St. John volunteers could be calculated in hundreds of millions of dollars. The contribution to safety of Canadians is immeasurable.
THEREFORE, I, Mayor Brian Smith on behalf of the Town of Wasaga Beach do hereby proclaim June 24 to June 30, 2024, as St. John Ambulance Week in the Town of Wasaga Beach.
