Seniors Expo in Wasaga Beach Continues to Grow; Town Set to Welcome 90 Exhibitors on June 19, 2024 at the RecPlex
Annual event offers free admission and features live entertainment, a cash BBQ and free public transit for seniors
Wasaga Beach – The Town of Wasaga Beach is preparing to welcome residents to the 6th annual Seniors Information and Active Living Expo being held on June 19th at the RecPlex in Wasaga Beach.
This year’s event is set to be the largest yet, with live entertainment and a record-setting, 90 exhibitors.
June is also Seniors Month, and public transit is free for seniors from June 16 to June 22, 2024.
“The Town’s sixth annual Seniors Expo is set to be one of our largest yet,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “Thanks to the hard work happening behind the scenes by our Age-Friendly Advisory Committee and volunteers, we’re building an age-friendly community and creating an incredible space where local businesses, organizations and leisure clubs can connect with our seniors – and where seniors can connect with each other.”
This year’s Expo features free admission, a cash BBQ organized by the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre’s Grill Team, with all money raised through hot food and refreshment sales going to support the Youth Centre.
There will also be door prizes and live entertainment, including “seniors entertaining seniors” featuring line dancers, drummers, the Prime Time Singers, and more.
“The Age-friendly Committee has been working hard behind the scenes to organize this year’s event. We are excited to once again offer up a full program including 90 exhibitors this year,” said Jeff Burke, Chair of the Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee. “Today we’re calling on all older adults in Wasaga Beach to come out to the RecPlex on Wednesday June 19 between 10am and 2pm – this event is for you! Come to make new connections and learn more about what our community has to offer.”

About the project
The Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee and the Seniors Information and Active Living Expo supports Council’s priorities, which includes building a complete community. A complete community is also an age-friendly community. It’s part of the Town’s plan to become a leader in sustainability, creativity, innovation and fun – a place with thriving businesses, safe, inclusive and complete neighbourhoods; where we celebrate our rich history, diversity of cultures, natural beauty, the Nottawasaga River, Georgian Bay and the world’s longest freshwater beach. A place where people choose to come to create memories that will last a lifetime.
