Seniors Expo in Wasaga Beach Set to Be a Huge Success with Record-Breaking Number of Exhibitors, Free Admission and Live Music
Mayor and members of council will also help celebrate Senior of the Year
The Town of Wasaga Beach is ready to welcome older residents to the 5th annual Seniors Information and Active Living Expo, being held next week on June 21 at the RecPlex. This year’s event is set to be one of the most successful with live music and a record-setting 77 exhibitors ready to welcome guests – the most in any prior year.
“Our fifth annual Seniors Expo is set to be one of our most successful,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “Thanks to the hard work happening behind the scenes by our Age-Friendly Advisory Committee and volunteers, we’re building an age-friendly community and creating an incredible space where local businesses, organizations and leisure clubs can connect with our seniors – and where seniors can connect with each other.”
This year’s Expo features free admission, a cash BBQ organized by the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre’s Grill Team, with all money raised through hot food and refreshment sales going to support the Youth Centre.
There will also be door prizes and live music by the Rhythm of the Beach Drum Circle and Ken Meyer.
“The Age-friendly Committee has been working hard behind the scenes to organize this year’s event. We are excited to have a record number of exhibitors this year and are hoping for even more guests to attend than last year,” said Jeff Burke, Chair of the Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee. “Today we’re calling on all older adults in Wasaga Beach to come out to the RecPlex on Wednesday June 21 between 10am and 2pm to see what we have to offer, make new connections and learn more about what our community has to offer. This event is for you.”

A complete community is also an age-friendly community. It’s part of the Town’s plan to become a leader in sustainability, creativity, innovation and fun – a place with thriving businesses, safe, inclusive and complete neighbourhoods; where we celebrate our rich history, diversity of cultures, natural beauty, the Nottawasaga River, Georgian Bay and the world’s longest freshwater beach.
