Crowd of 12,000 residents and visitors pack beachfront for Memories of Summer music festival and last long weekend of summer
“To everyone who made Wasaga Beach and Memories of Summer a part of their long weekend plans, thank you,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “This event showcased what our Town is all about – an iconic beach, fun events, wonderful shops and restaurants -- and making memories with friends and family that will last a lifetime.”
WASAGA BEACH – The Town of Wasaga Beach is celebrating one of the most successful ends to its summer tourism season in years, and thanking the thousands of residents and visitors who celebrated the last long weekend of summer in the Town over the Labour Day long weekend.
Over 12,000 attendees gathered at the Town's iconic Beach Area 1 for the annual Memories of Summer music festival.
The event featured electrifying live performances by The Carpet Frogs and Canadian rock legends, April Wine, followed by a large fireworks display.
The long weekend also proved to be a resounding success for many businesses in Wasaga Beach.
“We were much busier than expected,” said Bananas’ Bar Manager Jason Preddie. “With thousands of people there was a lot of excitement – you could feel the soul of Wasaga! It was a perfect end to the summer.”
“I haven’t seen the beach like this in years,” said A Taste of Italy food truck owner, Mario Vetro. “It was a great experience for us and the perfect end to our first season in Wasaga Beach.”
Paul Vaccari owner of Mr. Norms Nephew also remarked, “Labour Day was our second-highest revenue weekend of the entire summer, trailing only behind the Canada Day Long Weekend. Many of the businesses we work with also had a great weekend.”
