Wasaga Beach – The Town of Wasaga Beach announces the return of its popular "Toys for Tickets" program. Currently in its fifth year, this initiative combines community support, goodwill, and holiday spirit by allowing residents to turn parking fines into an opportunity to give back to those in need. The program brought in $1,500 of new toys in 2022 which were distributed through local charities.
How to Participate:
- Every person who has an unpaid parking ticket (with the exception of accessibility parking violations) is eligible to participate in the program.
- Toys must be new, unwrapped and presented with the receipt and original parking ticket to the Customer Service desk at Town Hall during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The value of the toy must be equal to, or exceed, the amount of the parking ticket.
- You may donate more than one toy provided the total cost of the toys is equal to, or exceeds, the fine amount (taxes not included).
This year, the Town has partnered with The Kinette Club of Wasaga Beach who will ensure that the donated toys reach those children in the community who need them most.
“We are incredibly grateful for the donations through the Toys for Tickets campaign,” said Jane Young, President of The Kinette Club of Wasaga Beach. “We understand that Christmas can be a challenging time for many families, and it's truly fulfilling to know that through the generosity of Wasaga Beach residents, children will wake up to find a gift under their tree."
