Today, George Vadeboncoeur, chief administrative officer for the Town of Wasaga Beach, announced his retirement, effective Monday, Nov. 14.
Vadeboncoeur, a veteran civil servant with more than three decades of municipal experience, joined the town in the fall of 2005.
“I leave knowing the town remains in good financial shape, with financial plans to address the major capital projects the town has underway,” he said. “I am proud of the men and women who work for the town. Their dedication and support at all times, but particularly during the pandemic, was awe-inspiring.”
Vadeboncoeur said he is pleased with the evolution of the town over his 17-year run as CAO.
“The town has made significant infrastructure investments over these years in the areas of water and sewer, public transit, library services, parks and recreation, as well as roads, trails and sidewalks. From an economic development perspective, we have witnessed significant residential and commercial growth. The town is in good shape overall. People know Wasaga Beach is a great place to live and invest,” he said.
Vadeboncoeur thanked the outgoing council for its support.
“I am proud of how much the community has progressed under the leadership of this council and commend members of council on achieving the goals they set at the start of the term,” he said.
Mayor Nina Bifolchi thanked Vadeboncoeur for his service.
“George is the consummate professional. Over the years, he has served three different mayors in Wasaga Beach. He has provided knowledgeable advice to council members and strong, dependable leadership at the staff level. We thank him for his contributions and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
