Waterfront Festival this Weekend Continues Kick-off to Wasaga Beach’s Busy Summer Season
Town prepared and coordinating with OPP and other partners to ensure a safe, fun summer for all
The Town of Wasaga Beach presents its Waterfront Festival this weekend on its iconic Beach Drive. Featuring live music by the 99s, Feez Careeb and the Peasant Kings, there will be photo booths, sandcastle artists at work, food trucks and a larger than life Kite Festival. Wasaga Beach Mayor Brian Smith says the town’s goal is to ensure everyone has a fun and safe weekend – and a summer of memories that will last a lifetime.
This weekend, which is expected to be a warm and sunny one, marks the continuation of the town’s kick-off to a busy summer season that will see Canada Day festivities on the beach headlined by Bedouin Soundclash with country artist, Rob Watts and Juno-nominated, Tik-Tok sensation, Devon Cole.
Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy fireworks, buskers, weekly beach-side movie nights, a farmers market, and regular live music on the beach beginning in July. The summer fun continues with the Sand and Soca Caribbean music festival in August, the town’s Labour Day extravaganza, a Memories of Summer concert featuring Canadian rock royalty, April Wine.
The summer line-up will be topped off with the annual Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues festival in September.
Heading into the busy summer season, the Town is also prepared and coordinating with the OPP and other partners to ensure there is a plan in place that will keep residents and visitors safe and informed throughout the summer.
“Wasaga Beach is a safe, fun community and every summer we welcome visitors from far and wide,” said Mayor Brian Smith. “We have an incredible summer planned. We welcome everyone who visits Wasaga Beach to have fun, play and swim safely, and to respect our laws and the people who enforce them.”
“The town’s Fire Department, municipal law enforcement officers, Simcoe County first responders, provincial park wardens and OPP detachment are working together to ensure this weekend, and this summer, continues to be safe and fun for everyone,” Smith added.
The OPP are urging residents and visitors to “get out and enjoy the summer festivities, obey the law, and respect the community,” said Inspector Leah Gilfoy of the Huronia West OPP, “we are proud to be coordinating with our municipalities, other emergency services partners and the community to ensure a safe summer for all to enjoy.”
